NDC calls for vigilance during mop-up voter registration

Voters exhibition exercise starts today

Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Omane Boamah has urged party agents to be highly vigilant during the Electoral Commission’s upcoming mop-up voter registration exercise.

The EC has scheduled this mop-up from August 1 to August 3, 2024, with the goal of registering 50,000 to 70,000 new voters.

This exercise will focus on individuals who have turned 18 since the last registration and those who missed the previous opportunity with registration occuring at 268 District Offices, 26 Public Universities, and 41 Prison Centres.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday July 31, 2024, Dr. Boamah criticized the current voter register, calling it “sick” and stressing the importance of close monitoring by NDC agents.

He pointed out issues such as stolen Biometric Voter Registration laptops and unresolved concerns from the last IPAC meeting, emphasizing the need for a thorough and transparent audit of the voter register.

“The voters register is sick!

NDC agents must also be vigilant because the EC is yet to report back to IPAC on the serious concerns regarding the EC’s figures that the NDC raised at the last IPAC meeting: yet the EC is proceeding to commence another registration exercise,” he wrote.

NDC Agents: Be Extra Vigilant During Mop-Up Voter Registration Exercise; As We Strive To Audit The Unfit for Purpose Voters Register

From tomorrow, Thursday, 1st August, to Saturday 3rd August, all Ghanaians 18 years and above who are eligible to vote BUT NOT ALREADY REGISTERED AS VOTERS will be expected to register at the District offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.

According to the EC, the mop-up registration exercise will also be conducted in both 41 prison centerss and 26 public universities.

Accordingly, we urge NDC agents and political actors across the country to be EXTRA VIGILANT throughout the three days registration period.

This call for heightened vigilance from the high echelons of our great party is necessary because the current voters register, which the EC states has 18,681,366 voters, is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!

The voters register is sick!

NDC agents must also be vigilant because the EC is yet to report back to IPAC on the serious concerns regarding the EC’s figures that the NDC raised at the last IPAC meeting: yet the EC is proceeding to commence another registration exercise.

Additionally, NDC agents must be extra vigilant because there are still stolen and un-retrieved Biometric Voter Registration laptops 💻 in the hands of criminals.

Note that these Biometric Voter Registration laptops were stolen from the headquarters of the EC under CCTV surveillance.

Furthermore, NDC agents must be vigilant because the gerrymandering NPP could not achieve with thvoter transferer exercise, they seek to secure in this mop-up exercise.

This also means marginally won or lost constituencies must take note and be vigilant.

We must watch out!

And take legitimate action to protect Ghana’s democracy and fix Ghana’s destroyed economy and Ghana’s unprecedented unemployment in order to restore hope to Ghanaians by ensuring Change to reset Ghana.

To reset Ghana, the Electoral Commission must stop issuing mere assurances and act timeously to restore confidence in the electoral process.

Moreover, the Electoral Commission must accept the need to transparently audit the voters’ register.

In addition, the Electoral Commission must answer the parts of the 35 questions we posed at IPAC about the stolen and missing Biometric Equipment, as they promised after consulting their lawyers, even if they’re unable to answer all 35.

Furthermore, the security agencies must act professionally and extrude and shame the unprofessional NPP elements who seek to disturb the peace of Ghana using the security system.

This is because Ghana needs free, fair, transparent, and peaceful elections, that will also attract both local and foreign direct investments.

Ghana also needs a peaceful TRANSITION of power on January 07, 2025.

While we urge NDC agents and political actors to be extra vigilant from tomorrow 1st August to Saturday 3rd August, 2024 in order to secure the sanctity of the mop-up Voter Registration Exercise, we also once again unconditionally demand a transparent audit of the entire voters register!
