The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has expressed satisfaction with the willingness of parliamentary candidates to engage in peaceful and meaningful dialogue ahead of the 2024 general elections.

NCCE Chairperson Kathleen Addy, speaking at the official launch of the 2024 Parliamentary Candidates’ Dialogue in Accra on November 20, 2024, praised the candidates for their efforts.

According to her, the dialogue provides parliamentary candidates with a platform to engage constituents and share their ideas without resorting to violence, such as hate speech or other disruptive behavior. She emphasized, “The dialogues have shown that campaigns by parliamentary candidates can be conducted peacefully and respectfully.”

She expressed optimism about this year’s edition, noting the high level of cooperation from candidates. “In some constituencies where the dialogues have taken place so far, the NCCE is proud to note the active participation of candidates from the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as well as candidates from other political parties and independent candidates.”

The NCCE described this cooperation as a significant step toward strengthening democratic governance in Ghana. “Their participation indicates a shared commitment to deepening democratic governance by engaging the electorate on issues that matter to them,” Madam Addy stated.
