National Security operatives have intercepted a large quantity of counterfeit money and suspected gold bars hidden in twelve 20-foot shipping containers.
Following a tip-off, officers stormed a warehouse in Sapeiman, located in the Ga South Municipality, where the illicit goods were discovered. During the operation, they found bundles of fake US dollars concealed inside wooden boxes embedded in cement to evade detection. Additionally, counterfeit Ghana cedi notes, along with fake Ghana Army uniforms and boots, were confiscated, heightening security concerns.
Authorities have confirmed that two of the containers are still unaccounted for, with intensified efforts underway to track them down. A search is also ongoing for four suspects, including a ringleader known only as Alhaji.
National Security has reassured the public that investigations are in progress to dismantle the network and bring those responsible to justice.
