Over 400 Haulage Drivers are expected to undergo training program in road safety management in the coming days.
In an interview with the Regional Coordinating Director of National Road Safety Commission, Mr. Tony Dickson in Tema, he said the program is a Presidential special initiative supported and financed by the government to build the capacity of drivers across the country and to stop road accidents.
“The program is a Presidential special initiative supported and financed by the government of Ghana” he noted.
He said Greater Accra is to train 5,000 drivers and out of this Tema will train 1,000.
“The DVLA has given special training to some tutors in the Ghana Driving School Association to train these drivers whilst the road safety commission, the police and the DVLA will be there to supervises,” he said.
“We are supposed to train 150 drivers in a day and this comes with free food and drinks which the government is taking care of” he added.
He noted, “Any driver who fails to participate in this training program won’t be able to renew his license”.
