The National Peace Council (NPC) and the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) have condemned the recent act of vandalism at the Electoral Commission (EC) office in Damongo, located in the Savannah Region.

The EC office was set ablaze by frustrated youth, angered by delays in the declaration of election results. The attack caused significant damage to the office and its contents.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth stormed the EC office and ignited the fire. Authorities have since arrested the suspects.

In a joint statement, NPC and WANEP expressed their concern, urging political supporters to vacate collation centers and allow accredited agents to observe the process.

They also called on all parties to support EC personnel in performing their duties with professionalism and integrity, ensuring a free, fair, and transparent election.
