Key member of the New Patriotic Party and parliamentary candidate hopeful for Asutifi North Constituency, William Frimpong-Bonsu, has asserted that if possible, the constitution should be amended to allow Nana Addo more than four years in a second term because he has done more than enough for the development of the country.

In an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he opined that limiting Nana Addo’s second term to only four years will hinder the sustainability of development in the country.

“Nana Addo deserves more than the additional four years. If we could amend our constitution, we would have amended it for him. We need sustainability in our development efforts. If we don’t, we will experience the devastating effects of the mistake Ghanaians made when they elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into power”, he said.

He furthered that within three years, Nana Addo’s administration has shown superiority in management of the economy as compared to the erstwhile National Democratic Congress’ administration in eight years. In his opinion, the NDC reduced the growth rate after they took over in governing the country. “The president had done more than enough in developing the country”, he added.

He touted that, in the area of infrastructural development the current administration has brought more infrastructural development in every sector of the economy.

In 2016, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo centered his campaign message on job creation, industrialization of the economy and modernization of agriculture.

However, in 2019, an Afrobarometre Survey of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) stated that fifty-nine per cent of Ghanaians say that the Akufo-Addo government is taking Ghana in the wrong direction.
