Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has said that Ghana will mark a historic moment by electing Prof. Jane Naana as the first female Vice President of Ghana.

Mr. Mahama while engaging supporters of the NDC at a rally held in Volta Region’s North Tongu – Juapong Community, said that his move to choose Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang as his running mate was one he made to , serve as an inspiration for the younger female generation.

He believes that female electorates should increase efforts to earn Ghana it’s first female vice president. “History is about to be made because for the first time, the chance that Ghana is going to elect historically the first woman as Vice President is just right before us on 7th December and it must be an inspiration to all our women, to all our mothers, to all our sisters, to all our daughters, that women can also aspire to the highest offices of the land” he said.

The former president touted Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as an efficient choice, citing her proficiency as the Minster for Education during his tenure as the President of Ghana from 2012-2016.

He recounted some of her accomplishments which included her emergence as the first female to be ever appointed Vice Chancellor of a public university, the provision of all four core subjects textbooks to basic school learners and also the supervision of the E-block project. ““And so, she comes to the position on her merit, and I know that on the 7th of December history is going to be made in this country. Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is going to be elected the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana”, Mr. Mahama concluded.
