Director general of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Dr Kyeremeh Atuahene has revealed that sexually active person’s who have multiple sex partners increase the risk of exposing themselves to HIV/AIDS infections.

According to him, the best way to save oneself from HIV/AIDS is abstaining from sex.

In an interview with Fati Shaibu-Ali on the Happy 98.9 fm Morning show, the Director suggested to sexually active person’s to commit to one sexual partner who is not HIV positive and trust each other not to cheat. This can only be done when both partners conduct HIV tests to know their status and remian faithful to each.

However, if one can’t abstain from sex or cannot keep one partner then there is the need to avoid unprotected sex.

The Ghana AIDS Commission estimated in their 2023 national and Sub-national data research that 50 people are infected with HIV every day and majority of the new infections have been identified as persons between 15 and 49 years old.
