Asante Kotoko have been kicked out of the MTN FA Cup competition after losing on penalties to Berekum Chelsea 5-4 at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

The game ended goalless after 120 minutes with penalty shootouts needed to separate the two sides.

Chelsea converted all their spot-kicks but Asante Kotoko defender Wahab Adams missed his during the penalty shootouts.

Fabio Gama had a chance to put Asante Kotoko infront after the Porcupine Warriors were awarded a penalty in the first half.

The Brazilian’s effort struck the woodwork with the rebound cleared by the Berekum Chelsea defenders.

Stephen Amankonaa scored in extra-time but his goal was ruled out after it was adjudged to have crossed the line for a goal kick.

Berekum Chelsea have eliminated the defending champions 5-4 on penalties and will now face AshantiGold SC in the semi-finals.

Elsewhere Medeama SC defeated Division Two side, Attram de Visser, to book a place in the last four of the competition.

The Mauve and Yellow edged past Attram de Visser with a 3-2 scoreline in extra time to progress to the next stage at the Akoon Park.

Caleb Amankwah’s solo strike also helped Premier League champions Hearts of Oak to book a place in the semifinals.

Hearts of Oak secured a slim win over Elmina Sharks at the Ndoum Sports Complex in this highly entertaining game on Saturday.

AshantiGold SC defeated Kintampo Top Talents 4-2 to qualify to the next stage of the competition.
