The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Joseph Mensah, has expressed appreciation for the healthcare development efforts led by Mrs. Lordina Mahama in his constituency.
Speaking during the inauguration of a newly constructed maternity and children’s ward in Bodom by the Lordina Mahama Foundation on Tuesday, November 12, Mr. Mensah acknowledged the significant impact of the Lordina Mahama Foundation’s contributions.
He highlighted that the project stemmed from a community-led fundraising initiative held during Easter, where residents raised funds and sought support for the facility. At the event, Mr. Mensah assured them that Mrs. Mahama, along with her husband, former President John Mahama, would fulfill the community’s need for a modern maternity and children’s ward.
The MP noted that the new facility stands among several developmental projects spearheaded by the Mahamas in Bodom. These include a CHPS (Community-Based Health Planning and Services) compound, water supply systems for both the health facility and local households, underscoring a commitment to accessible healthcare and essential services for the constituency.
Reflecting on the recent electoral history, Mr. Mensah emphasized that for the first time, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secured a win in the Nkoranza North parliamentary elections in 2020, though the party’s presidential candidate did not achieve a victory in the constituency. He expressed confidence that the goodwill earned through ongoing development initiatives would translate into electoral gains in future elections, estimating that with continued support, the NDC could secure over 99% of votes in Nkoranza North.
Mr. Mensah encouraged the community to take full advantage of the new facility, recognizing it as a much-needed asset that many other communities lack. He urged residents to protect and maintain the ward, hopeful that more development would follow in the near future.
