The Ministry for the Interior has declared Monday, January 7, 2019 as a public holiday that must be observed as such.
A terse statement signed by the Minister, Mr. Ambrose Dery, said the day has been christened “Constitution Day”.
Parliament is currently considering a bill proposed by government to make certain days statutory public holidays.
When the bill is approved by parliament, January 7 will be earmarked as Constitution Day, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial and Founders’ Days will be celebrated September 21 and August 5.
This bill was laid in Parliament on Wednesday 12 December 2018.
