The Minerals Commission has denied reports of issuing permits for mining near the Mole National park in the Savannah Region.
A statement issued by the Acting CEO of the Commission, Martin Ayisi said no such Mining Permit has been issued.
Some CSOs in the mining sector have alleged that permit has been issued for mining near the Mole National Park.

The statement said the Commission, as the repository of records of all Mineral Rights in Ghana, expects CSOs, who are partners and have been working closely with the Commission over the years, to seek clarifications from it before making such allegation.

Recently, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, in a directive called on all persons or companies engaged in reconnaissance or prospecting in Forest Reserves to cease their operations and evacuate their equipment accordingly until further notice.
