Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa, National Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has criticized the growing influence of politics in Ghanaian football, particularly within the Black Stars.
In recent times, reports have suggested divisions within the senior national team, with some football experts alleging that political considerations influence the selection of players by coaches.
Speaking in an interview on Happy FM, Haruna Futa, a former management member of Accra Hearts of Oak, expressed concern over this trend, warning that it could hinder the development of the sport in Ghana.
“It is wrong to mix football with politics, especially when it comes to the Black Stars,” he stated. “There’s a lot of political interference within the Black Stars management and even in the technical team. This does not bode well for the growth of football in the country.”
Haruna Futa emphasized the need to maintain professionalism and impartiality in managing the national team to ensure its success and unity.
