
The Central Regional Police Command has apprehended two suspects believed to be involved in the transportation of electricity cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The individuals, identified as Mohammed Sulemana and Iddrisu Basit, both driver’s mates of an articulated truck, were taken into custody on April 1, 2025, at Gomoa Awombrew in the Central Region.
The truck in question, bearing registration number GC 7410-11, was loaded with 28 rims of cables and discovered parked in the area.
According to Police statement dated April 3, 2025, officials from ECG, led by Operations Officer Mr. David Ackom, confirmed the ownership of the cables, though they stated that no such consignment was expected there.
The vehicle is currently under police guard at Gomoa Awombrew, and efforts are underway to locate the truck’s driver, Zibo Imoro, who remains at large.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
