The Minority caucus in Parliament has threatened to protest and redraw all forms of cooperation in parliament if President Mahama fails to take steps to protect citizens by resolving post election violence in the country.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday January 20, 2025, the second deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib called on the Elections Security Taskforce to ensure adequate law and order without hesitation.

“We also call on the Ghana Police Service IGP Dampare and the entire elections security taskforce to raise up to this occasion and enforce law and order without hesitation.
The EC officials and all stakeholders in this electoral process must be protected
We hereby serve notice that should the President who is the commander in chief fail to take steps to protect the ordinary citizens, we the minority caucus shall protest through lawful means and redraw cooperation in parliament”.

Expressing their displeasure about the happenings to the recollation of the Ablekuma North Parliamentary elections result, Mr.Ahmed Shaib stated that, the current post electoral violence by members of the NDC is uncalled for, urging President Mahama to take steps to call his members to order.

He mentioned that, the NDC in Ablekuma North know that they lost the elections hence resorting to violence.

“The NDC knows that, it has lost the Ablekuma North elections parliamentary elections and has therefore resorted to violence with the sole aim of preventing the electoral commission from declaring the NPPs candidate”.
