The minority caucus on the appointment committee of Parliament has stated categorically that it will not participate in the vetting of the President’s nominee for deputy minister for Trade and industry.
The deputy minister- designate who doubles as MP for Achiase in the Eastern region Kofi Ahenkora Marfo is expected to appear before the appointment committee for vetting.
Meanwhile, a press statement signed by the minority leader, Ato Forson indicated that they can not support the increase in the size of government.
” We are unable to support this nominations by president Akuffo- ADDO at this time because of current economic hardships such as food insecurity, debt default as a result of excessive borrowing, corruption in government and reckless expenditure.” He said
The leader also stated in the statement that, the minority can not take part in a decision to further burden the suffering of Ghanaians, especially when the president is unmindful of the financial consequences of his bloated government.
