A combined police and military team Monday dawn arrested over 300 suspected criminals at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra.
The operation was to rid the area of criminals who have been operating within the vicinity.
The suspects have been moved to the Regional Police Headquarters where they are expected to be screened investigated and necessary actions taken against them.
Accra Regional Police Operations Commander, Chief Superintendent Samuel Kwesi Ofori, told Citi News that they have accomplished their mission.
“We conducted a joint police, military operations this morning [Monday] aimed at arresting criminals suspected to be involved in robberies, drug peddling and other criminal activities within the metropolis and its immediate environs…We’ve accomplished our mission this morning. We will be handing over 300 suspects to the Criminal Investigations Department at the Regional Headquarters to investigate and initiate actions that may depend on criminality among others.
This operation comes after similar ones in the Central region and the Western region last week.
141 suspected criminals were arrested at Budumburam last week by a specialised police and military team. Another 213 suspects were also picked up in Takoradi for similar drug related criminals activities.
