Italian-born of Ghanaian descent Mario Balotelli has taken to social media to express his love for Ghana.
Balotelli, who is arguably one of the most controversial players in world football, posted an artwork of himself on his Instagram page sitting on a golden stool and dressed in a fine Kente clothe, with two Ghana flags hoisting behind him.
‘Super Mario’ as he is affectionately called, was born to two Ghanaian immigrants in Italy and was adopted by the powerful Balotelli family in Italy.
The 28-year-old had the chance to play for either the Black Stars of Ghana or the Gli Azzurri of Italy, but he chose the European nation over the West African giants.
He has had stints with clubs like Inter Milan, AC Milan, Manchester City, Liverpool and Nice, where is currently plying his trade.
The OGC Nice forward reiterated how proud he is to come from Ghana; I always say that I’m proud to be ?? Italian but never forget that I’m AFRICAN, son of 2 immigrants and proud to be ?? Ghanaian too. AFRICA IS MY ❤
