Mahama’s COVID-19 relief food items lizard infested - NPP E/R

The Eastern Regional Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Prah is alleging that food items that were personally distributed by Former President John Dramani Mahama in some selected 200 households in two communities in the Greater Accra Region had a lizard in them.

He made the allegation on Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah.

According to David Prah, the Former President is an “opportunistic who is embarking on a vote-buying using the pandemic as an avenue to distribute foods and other items to the venerable in the country”.

“The Former President is latching onto the COVID-19 crisis to send out his political message ahead of the December 2020 elections. Moreover, the items he is sharing which contains rice, and others had a lizard in them”, he told Afrifa-Mensah.

Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama on Sunday, April 19, 2020, visited Koluedor and Borteiman, both in the Greater Accra region to personally hand over food items to some 200 households in the two communities.

Each box delivered to each home contained a small bag of rice, oil, sugar, mackerel, canned tomatoes, and other foodstuffs.

According to the Former President, the move is part of his presentation of relief items to 20,000 households in Accra, Kumasi, Tema, and Kasoa areas.

He again explained that the reason for personally delivering the food items saying, he needed to ensure adequate social distancing and respect WHO protocols.

“As part of my feed 20,000 household’s relief effort, I selected 200 households in two communities in the Greater Accra Region where I joined a team of volunteers to share some food items. The focus of my intervention was to support our brothers and sisters facing severe challenges as a result of the lockdown and the advice to stay home to help halt the spread of COVID-19”.

Meanwhile, the Former President has also been donating some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to various health facilities across the country in the fight against COVID-19.
