The Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagship One District, One Factory initiative, describing it as a ploy to secure political power.

Speaking during his Eastern Regional campaign tour, Mr. Mahama alleged that the initiative, along with other promises such as allocating one million dollars per constituency annually, were mere propaganda tools aimed at winning votes. He accused the NPP of using such promises to enrich themselves at the expense of the nation.

He decried the state of the economy, blaming the NPP for mismanagement and the extensive damage done to the country’s resources.

He urged Ghanaians to vote the NPP out in the upcoming elections to safeguard what he described as the remaining national fortune.

He also highlighted the decline in Ghana’s railway sector, contrasting it with the NDC’s tenure when train transportation was more vibrant. Mahama accused the NPP of dismantling railway infrastructure, alleging that railway metals were being removed and sold under the current administration.

He reiterated his commitment to rebuilding the economy and restoring Ghana’s infrastructure, calling on party supporters and sympathizers to rally behind the NDC for a change in leadership.
