The 2024 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to seek justice and compensation for the victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence that occurred during the 2020 elections.

Speaking to Chiefs and Elders of La-Bawuleshie and Mempeasem in the Ayawaso West Constituency, Mr. Mahama said eight innocent individuals lost their lives during the incident, yet there has been no expression of sympathy, investigation, or compensation for them.

” In 2020 when we held the elections, eight of our compatriots died not a word of sympathy, not an investigation to bring to justice the people who killed them and not even one pessewa compensation for those people whose dear ones were killed,” he said.

He assured the people of Ayawaso West Wuogon and the families of the deceased that when the NDC comes to power, they will ensure justice is served and provide appropriate compensation to the victims’ families to help them rebuild their lives.
