Mahama outlines initiatives for women's empowerment and market revitalization

The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has unveiled an ambitious plan aimed at empowering women and revitalizing local markets if elected president.

During a community engagement with party supporters in Agyei Kojo, Tema West, Mr. Mahama announced that within the first 120 days of his administration, the government would provide seed money upfront for a women’s development bank.

This initiative he said is designed to ensure that women, including mothers and sisters, can access loans with low interest rates and no collateral requirements, facilitating the growth of their businesses.

He emphasized the importance of supporting women entrepreneurs, noting that this financial assistance would enable them to take care of their families and contribute to the overall economic development of their communities.

In addition to the women’s development bank, Mr. Mahama also introduced his “market enhancement program.” He outlined plans to revamp markets across the country, focusing on proper engineering and paving to create more inviting shopping environments.

According to him, the objective is to make markets more appealing and accessible, ultimately benefiting both vendors and customers.
