Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged public office holders to be accountable after their tenure ends.
He stated that anyone who chooses to serve in public office must accept the responsibility of being answerable to the people of Ghana.
During his campaign tour in the Ada constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Mahama emphasized that those elected to serve must be prepared to account for their actions once their term is over.
He pointed out that he chose to remain in the country after his presidency and made himself available for scrutiny, showing his commitment to accountability.
Mr. Mahama noted that he was open to investigations into his conduct while in office and has consistently stayed in Ghana to be accountable to the public.
He expressed his hope that members of the current NPP government will also remain in the country after leaving office and similarly be accountable to the people of Ghana.
