President John Mahama has identified key areas for constitutional amendments, aiming to enhance Ghana’s governance framework.
Speaking during a March 4 meeting with the Constitution Review Committee, chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, President Mahama emphasized the need for reforms to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
Among the proposed changes are the election of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), a review of the emoluments of Article 71 officeholders, and a reconsideration of the practice of appointing ministers from Parliament.
These reforms, President Mahama believes, are essential to addressing longstanding governance challenges and improving the effectiveness of state institutions.
The Constitution Review Committee, tasked with gathering perspectives on potential amendments, met with President Mahama as part of its broader consultation process.
