President John Dramani Mahama has announced a visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo OSei Tutu II on January 19, 2025.

The visit to the Asantehene is to discuss security issues in the Upper East Region, especially the tensions in Bawku and Walewale.

Speaking during his visit to the Overlord of Mamprugu Kingdom, Naa Bihari Mahama Abdulai Sheriga II, President Mahama assured him of his commitment to restoring peace in the area.

He said, “In my last briefings with Nana Akufo Addo before he left office, he briefed me about some mediation efforts that they were undertaking. I wish to be able to discuss it with him (Naa Bohagu Mahama Abdulai Sheriga II) and see how we can continue that effort”.

President Mahama expressed optimism about finding an amicable solution to the issues in his meeting with Otumfuo OSei Tutu II.

He added, “Nana addo gave me a hint that otumfuo has been playing some role and so am supposed to be with Otumfuo on the 19th of this month, so when I go it’s one of those issues I will discuss with him and whatever comes out of it, I will inform my father”.
