The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has claimed that the owner of the defunct DKM Microfinance is a key financier of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign.

In 2015, the Bank of Ghana suspended DKM for violating the banking act. During the lead-up to the 2016 election, DKM Microfinance became the center of issues with the then-opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) accusing the Mahama family of owning the company.

Speaking in Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region, where the defunct company had a significant presence, Mr. Mahama denied any connection between his family and DKM, labeling the accusations as false propaganda. He pointed out that despite the NPP’s accusations against him and his wife, Lordina, in 2016, it is now evident that Vice President Bawumia is receiving campaign funding from the very individual who led DKM.

He urged the public to remember that while lies can spread rapidly, the truth eventually prevails. He called on the people to demand answers from Dr. Bawumia about his involvement with the former DKM owner and the fate of their investments.
