LPG Marketers Association denies CRM opposition claims

There’s enough gas to meet national demand – NPA assures Ghanaians

The LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA) has denied accusations of opposing the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM).

In a statement released and signed by Vice Chairman Gabriel Kumi, on Sunday, July 21, 2024, the association stated that these claims are unfounded.

The LPGMA clarified that they have had extensive discussions with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and support the operation of both the refilling and CRM systems simultaneously.

The statement revealed that their advertisements aimed to encourage LPG use for environmental protection and support for local businesses, not to oppose CRM.

The statement also highlighted that while the association is committed to CRM, their requests to install cages at all LPG stations to distribute CRM cylinders were rejected by the NPA.

LPGMA criticized the NPA’s portrayal of them as resistant to change, calling it unfair and misleading.

LPGMA urged the NPA to maintain impartiality and ensure a fair approach for all industry stakeholders.
