Asante Kotoko coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has called on the technical handlers of the Black Stars to give more opportunities to local players in the national team.
According to Dr. Ogum, the Ghana Premier League has an untapped potential which will benefit the country hence the need for the Black Stars coaches to take a critical look at the league.
Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum’s comment comes on the back of Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare’s performance for the Black Stars against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“They need to scout deeper and deeper in the [Ghana] league, and when they are able to do that, I’m sure they will have a backlog of good, talented local players who, when given the opportunity, can play.”
“To me, they shouldn’t just scout local players and go and put them on the bench. They should scout players who, when given the chance, will be able to compete,” he added.
Benjamin Asare made his debut for the Black Stars in the 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium and also kept a clean sheet against Madagascar in Morocco.
