Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, Martin Agyei Mensah Korsah, has announced that contractors working on the Ghana Secondary City Support Program will be held to strict deadlines.
During a tour to inspect projects in the Efia Kwasimintim and Ahanta West Municipalities in the Western Region, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of some projects.
Despite the availability of funding from the Ghana Secondary City Support Program and the World Bank, many contractors are significantly behind schedule.
Mr. Korsah warned that contracts may be terminated if deadlines are not met.
He stated that government will not pay any additional money to any contractor who fails to complete the work within the agreed timelines and then requests more funds.
He emphasized that if anyone is unable to meet the deadline, the contract will be terminated and awarded to a more competent and capable contractor.
