Lil Win Granted GH¢50K Bail as Police Investigation Continues

Kwadwo Nkansah, widely recognized by his stage name Lil Win, has been granted a 50,000 cedi bail with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court. This comes after his arrest on Monday, June 3. The court’s decision grants him temporary freedom as the legal proceedings unfold.

Lil Win was taken into custody by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command immediately after his release from the hospital, in relation to a recent fatal car accident. The incident, which occurred while the actor was behind the wheel, tragically resulted in the death of a young child, aged three. The arrest marks the beginning of a legal process to investigate and address the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

However, the police had delayed arresting Lil Win due to his reported health issues. Nevertheless, the actor has now been formally charged with dangerous driving and negligently causing harm, paving the way for the legal process to unfold and address the family’s calls for accountability.

Lil Win’s lawyer, Margaret Adjei-Twum, argued that her client suffered severe injuries, including internal bleeding, and urged the court to grant him bail to undergo medical treatment. She emphasized that Lil Win is a public figure with no intention of fleeing the legal process.Despite his incomplete recovery, the police compelled him to appear in court.

The case was adjourned until June 27, 2024, amidst a notable police presence at the Asokore Mampong District Court.
