Group Chief Executive Oficer for DataBank, Kojo Addae Mensah has called on the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to dump the 3rd place games at the Africa Cup of Nations because it’s unnecessary.
Speaking on his maiden ‘Kojo’s Thought‘ show on Happy FM, Addae Mensah bemoaned the lack of importance attached to 3rd place games and asked that it be scrapped altogether.
Kojo Addae Mensah, an astute sports enthusiast, held that CAF should take a cue from UEFA who don’t have the third place games during the EURO Championships.
“I don’t seem to understand why we still have 3rd place games at the AFCON. I think it’s totally unnecessary because the players are mostly not motivated to engage in the game after losing out on the finals. What mostly happens is that the team’s use their fringe players for the 3rd place games and it doesn’t make the games exciting.” Addae-Mensah said on ‘Kojo’s Thought’ on Anopa Bosuo Sports.
