FIFA Under-17 World Cup winning coach Sam Arday has died at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital following a short sickness.
He was 71 years.
The legendary coach is famous for several exploits with the various Ghana national teams including winning Africa’s first Olympic football medal in Barcelona ’92 with Ghana’s Black Meteors.
He also won the 1995 FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Ecuador with the likes of Awudu Issaka, Emmanuel Bentil, Abu Iddrisu, Baba Sule and Attakora Amanianpong among others.
Sam Arday was a co-founder of Feyenoord Football Academy at Gomoa Fetteh which has now metamorphosised into West Africa Foootball Academy (WAFA) which plays in the Ghana Premier League.
He had two stints with the Black Stars from 1996 to 1997 and then he handled a game for the side as a stop-gap coach in 2004.
