A Private legal practitioner, William Kusi has called for Aisha Huang to be sentenced to 40 years in prison as a deterrent to individuals involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
On September 14, 2022, intelligence from the Ministry of National Security in Kumasi revealed that Aisha Huang and two other Chinese nationals, were engaged in illegal mining activities. Law enforcement arrested the accused at their residence in Paraku Estates, near Daaban in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Kusi criticized the lack of commitment from Ghanaian politicians, whom he accused of being influenced by greed, in addressing the Aisha Huang case. He pointed out that Aisha Huang, managed to obtain a Ghana Card in February 2022, with the name Huang En, an issue that warrants thorough investigation.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring justice in this case to deter others from engaging in illegal mining and argued that a 40-year sentence for Aisha Huang would serve as a strong warning against such activities.
