Late heroics from McTominay rescue Man United; Sterling shines as Chelsea triumph over Burnley

Manchester United experienced a stunning turnaround with a last-minute 2-1 comeback victory against Brentford, thanks to super sub Scott McTominay.

After recent Premier League losses at home to Brighton and Crystal Palace, and a tough Champions League defeat to Galatasaray, Manchester United faced intense scrutiny and pressure.

Erik ten Hag’s team aimed to enter the international break on a positive note but struggled for most of the match on Saturday afternoon.

A series of errors led to Mathias Jensen’s opening goal for Brentford.
United’s response was lackluster, and as the game entered stoppage time, Brentford appeared on course for their first win at Old Trafford since 1937.

However, in the 93rd minute, homegrown midfielder Scott McTominay came off the bench and fired in an equalizer. Just four minutes later, he headed home an incredible winner, igniting jubilant celebrations at Old Trafford.

Chelsea secured their second consecutive Premier League victory in 2023 with a commanding 4-1 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Although Wilson Odobert put Burnley ahead early, Chelsea drew level with an own goal by Ameen Al Dakhil just before half-time. After the break, Chelsea took control of the game.

Raheem Sterling, in exceptional form, earned a penalty that Cole Palmer converted. Sterling also added a goal of his own, and Nicolas Jackson scored a fourth to seal a memorable victory for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
