The National Labour Commission (NLC) has sued the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) over its nationwide strike.
The commission is praying for the court to secure an interlocutory injunction to compel the lecturers to return to work.
An interlocutory injunction, also known as an interim injunction, is a court order to compel or prevent a party from doing certain acts pending the final determination of the case.
It is an order made at an interim stage during the trial and is usually issued to maintain the status quo until judgment can be obtained.
The NLC said the suit is also to force UTAG to call off its strike in compliance with its 13 January directive, asking them to go back to work since the strike was illegal.
