Former Ghanaian midfielder, Yussif Chibsah says Kurt Okraku is struggling as the Ghana Football Association president because of poor appointments.
According to Chibsah, while Okraku has the credentials to lead Ghanaian football successfully, his leadership has been undermined by ineffective appointments.
Speaking on Sporty FM, he emphasized the need for the GFA boss to build a stronger support system around him.
“Kurt is the head, but he cannot do it alone. He needs to surround himself with people who can really help him, and for me, that is one area I think he has failed. His appointments—I don’t think he has done well with that,” Chibsah stated.
Chibsah, also pointed out mixed performances across various levels of Ghanaian football.
“On different scales, when you look at our youth teams, we have failed to qualify for major tournaments, but recently, we won the African Games. As for the Black Stars, we couldn’t qualify for AFCON, so in that regard, you can say we haven’t performed well,” he explained.
Despite his criticisms, the former Asante Kotoko and King Faisal player acknowledged Okraku’s achievements, particularly praising the Catch Them Young initiative and the development of women’s football.
“One initiative that he brought that I like so much is the Catch Them Young initiative, which is a fantastic idea. And another area he has done tremendously well in is women’s football,” Chibsah added.
