Kurt Okraku files nomination to contest CAF Executive Committee seat

Incumbent FA boss Kurt E.S Okraku successfully completes first face of the vetting process

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku has filed nomination to contest for an Executive Seat at the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Kurt Okraku according to reports seeks to become the second Ghanaian to serve on the CAF Executive Council after Kwesi Nyantakyi in 2018.

Kurt Okraku will contest in the CAF Executive Council elections as the unopposed President of WAFU Zone B.

This development follows an agreement reached in March 2021, where Okraku decided not to contest the CAF Executive Committee position.

Reports indicate that this decision allowed Djibril Hamidou, President of the Niger Football Association, to continue as WAFU zone B representative on the Executive Committee, while Okraku took over the WAFU B presidency.

With Hamidou now contesting for a position on the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) council, the path has been cleared for Kurt Okraku to take over his position on the CAF Executive Committee.
