Asante Kotoko’s decision to leave Coach Kjetil Zacharissen in Ivory Coast has caught the attention of the local newspapers in the country.
According to reports, the management of Asante Kotoko left the coach in Abidjan due to security reasons as some officials of the club in an interview stated that they could not guarantee his safety should he return with them to Kumasi, Ghana.
After the Confederation Cup play-off game against San Pedro which they lost 2-1, there were allegations made towards the coach for fixing the match with officials of San Pedro which led to the team’s exit from the Confederation Cup.
Under his tenure, Kotoko failed to progress to both the group stage of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
Management of Asante Kotoko have asked the Danish trainer to resign from his post but his agent in an interview on Happy FM indicated that Kjetil will not resign.
The Porcupine Warriors arrived in the country on Monday. The players have been given a 5-day break.
