South Korean emergency services have confirmed the deaths of 179 people following the crash of a Boeing 737-800 at Muan International Airport.
Reports indicate that 179 out of the 181 individuals on board the aircraft were killed, leaving just two survivors—both cabin crew members—who were pulled from the burning wreckage.
The plane, Flight 2216, was returning from Bangkok, Thailand, with six crew members and 175 passengers, many of whom were holidaymakers. Upon landing at Muan International Airport in the country’s south, the aircraft skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall, resulting in a fiery explosion.
Of the six crew members on board, four were confirmed dead, while the two survivors are receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
