Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has urged the government to fulfill its campaign promises as Ghanaians continue to wait.
Speaking during a debate on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Oppong Nkrumah said President John Dramani Mahama has failed to address key issues raised during the 2024 election campaign.
He pointed out that while millions of young people who voted for Mahama are eagerly awaiting delivery on campaign promises, the President chose not to discuss these pressing matters during his SONA on February 27.
Oppong Nkrumah highlighted that President Mahama campaigned on addressing the high cost of living, high transport fares, and escalating electricity bills. The President had promised to implement initiatives to tackle these issues, yet none of these concerns were mentioned in his address, leaving the public frustrated.
He further argued that instead of offering solutions, the President spent much of his time lamenting and blaming the previous administration, a tactic reminiscent of his approach in 2014.
Oppong Nkrumah called on the government to stop relying on propaganda now that they have already won power. He emphasized that propaganda cannot create jobs or put food on the tables of Ghanaians, and urged the government to focus on delivering tangible results.
