The Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has commended the Ghana National Fire Service for their swift response to the fire outbreak at the Saglemi housing site at Ningo Prampram.
According to him, the Saglemi housing project at the Quarm LMI site did not get affected during the fire outbreak.
During a visit to the site today, Wednesday, December 25, 2024, the Minister indicated that the project remains unaffected assuring the public that reports indicating that some documents got affected during the fire outbreak is false.
“The managing director of Quarm LMI, Kofi Ofori narrated to me that the fire destroyed two sheds and two containers after his team took us around the site. They have even started clearing the site for redevelopment”, he said.
He added that the containers that got affected by the fire contained some old items which were used at the beginning of the construction of the Saglemi housing project.
He also dismissed allegations that some people were behind the fire outbreak saying, there’s no basis for such allegations.
However, information gathered by the fire service would determine the actual cause of the fire outbreak.
He urged the contractors to act according to the building codes and safety standards to prevent such incidents so that the timeline set to complete the project can be achieved.
