The Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency and Minister-Designate for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed his unwavering support for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most iconic football clubs.
Speaking on Happy FM’s sports show, Kofi Adams affirmed his dedication to the Ghana Premier League and candidly shared his concerns about the state of Ghanaian football.
“Everybody, including you all, knows that Ghana football has not been in good shape for some time now,” he remarked. “We need broader consultations to find the best ways to make our league more attractive and competitive.”
The yet-to-be-confirmed Sports Minister emphasized the need for unity among sports fans and stakeholders to elevate the standard of Ghanaian football. He urged all sports enthusiasts to come together to restore the glory of the country’s football league.
Kofi Adams’ appointment has generated significant interest, as he does not come from the traditional pool of Parliamentary Select Committee members on Sports. However, President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to appoint him reflects confidence in his managerial abilities.
While Kofi Adams acknowledges his limited background in sports administration, he expressed optimism about his capacity to effectively manage the affairs of the ministry. “A ministerial position is about leadership and management. My focus will be on ensuring that we reach the heights we all desire for Ghanaian sports,” he stated confidently.
The sports community and the nation at large now look to Kofi Adams to spearhead a transformation in Ghana’s sporting landscape, beginning with addressing the challenges facing the Premier League and laying a foundation for long-term success.
