A 21 year old final-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Daniel Tuffuor has been remanded in police custody in connection with the alleged murder of fellow final-year student Joana Deladem Yabani.

Tuffuor was arrested on Thursday, February 27, 2025, after Joana’s body was found on campus early that morning. The university’s security service alerted authorities, who reported the incident to the police.

It is believed that the two were in a romantic relationship at the time of Joana’s death. Tuffuor appeared before the Prempeh District Court, where prosecutors requested his remand to facilitate further investigations into the matter.

The court granted the request, and Tuffuor is scheduled to reappear on March 17, 2025.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Joana’s tragic death.
