Keta port CEO's salary valid due to extra responsibilities - NEIP CEO

CEO of the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has fired back at claims made by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a former Deputy Transport Minister, regarding the CEO of Keta Port. Madam Joyce Bawa Mogtari alleged that the Keta Port CEO has been pocketing a whopping GH₵87,000 monthly salary for nearly eight years without lifting a finger.

She took to Facebook to express her outrage, stating that this kind of negligence wouldn’t have flown under former President Mahama’s administration.

However, Nkansah swiftly debunked these claims, labeling them as misinformation designed to mislead the public. He clarified that the Keta Port CEO also serves as the CEO of Tema Ship Yard, a role that demands full-time commitment. According to Nkansah, the CEO has been actively working at the shipyard since his appointment, effectively debunking the notion that he’s been receiving pay without performing duties.

It’s worth noting that the Keta Port project has been underway, with Phase 1 estimated to cost USD600M and a feasibility study conducted. The port’s director, Dr. Alexander Adusei, has also defended his appointment, stating it was made by President Nana Akufo Addo. Amidst the controversy, Nkansah’s response aims to set the record straight and reassure Ghanaians about the responsible management of state resources.
