The minister for trade and industry, Mr Kwabena Tahir Hammond has justified why he insisted on the exit of cement manufacturing association of Ghana out of his meeting with the chamber of construction industry last week.
He said, a meeting was arranged at his ministry between himself and cement manufacturers association of Ghana to listen to each other and find means to reduce the prices of cement for Ghanaians but the manufacturers boycotted the meeting due to media presence.
According to K.T. Hammond, the ministry had already arranged for the media to partake in the meeting so that they could have coverage for the opening remarks of the meeting to let Ghanaians appreciate what is happening in the cement industry.
The Trade Minister concluded that, upon all his efforts to make the meeting happen cement manufacturers association failed to have the meeting with him, therefore, there was no need for same people who failed to meet him appear in another meeting scheduled for only chamber of construction industry unannounced.
