Genk winger Joseph Paintsil is hoping to make the Black Stars’ final squad ahead of the 2022 World Cup.
The black Stars coach, Otto Addo, has submitted his provisional 55-man squad to FIFA and is expected to name his final squad on November 10, 2022.
Paintsil in an interview revealed he has been invited by Otto Addo and is hoping to make the final list when the squad is submitted to FIFA ahead of the tournament.
“”I am in the pre-selection. I hope to be among the 26 in the final selection”, Paintsil said in an interview as quoted by Voetbalkrant.com.
The 24-year-old has been in fine form this season scoring over the weekend in Genk’s 3-1 win against Mechelen in the Belgium top-flight league.
Paintsil is confident his performances will guarantee him a spot in the squad and also hinted that the Black Stars squad is likely to be announced this week.
“It will be announced within a week or so. My goal and my assist may also be important with a view to the World Cup.”
Joseph Paintsil has made 10 goal contributions for Genk in the 2022/23 campaign. He has scored six goals in 12 appearances with four assists.
Paintsil was one of Ghana’s brightest spots at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Ghana will play its final preparatory game against Switzerland on October 17 before heading to the tournament.
The Black Stars will face Portugal in the opening Group game on October 24 before taking on South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
