Joe Ghartey, former Railway Development Minister, says his meeting with officials of the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) in respect to the investigation on the Sky Train Project
has dispelled any doubts regarding the Railways Development Ministry’s adherence to due process.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr. Ghartey emphasized that the Sky Train Project was structured as a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) transaction, ensuring that no payments were made by the Railway Development Ministry during his tenure.

“No payments were made by the Railway Development Ministry on my watch, as evidenced by the Auditor General’s report, 2021”.

Mr. Ghartey further explained that his ministry took all necessary steps to avoid any liability for the feasibility studies conducted on the project.

Addressing questions about the NIB’s invitation, Mr. Ghartey mentioned that he had incorporated several clauses in the agreements covering the project to absolve his ministry of any financial obligations.

Mr. Ghartey expressed his willingness to cooperate with the NIB, affirming that the Sky Train transaction was conducted transparently.
