Richard Jakpa, the third defendant in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial, has assured the court that the procurement processes and specifications for the ambulances were duly approved by both the Cabinet and Parliament.

This assurance was in response to a legal challenge initiated by Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame on July 2, which questioned the integrity and transparency of the procurement procedures.

Jakpa emphasized that the approval process underwent rigorous scrutiny at various levels, ensuring that the ambulances met all required standards and specifications.

In court, Jakpa presented detailed documentation, including minutes of meetings, evaluation reports, and correspondence between relevant government bodies, to substantiate his claims. He further assured the court that the entire process was in compliance with national procurement laws and international best practices.

Additionally, Jakpa stated that the container carrying equipment for the ambulances, which is part of the ongoing prosecution, has been emptied at the Tema Port and is currently located in Shanghai, China, according to tracking details.
