Following the Black Queens’ hard-fought draw against Zambia, Philomena Abakah has expressed immense pride in donning the national team jersey.
The talented defender, who plies her trade in Israel for ASA Tel Aviv was substituted at halftime during the fiercely contested match. She replaced Anasthasia and played a key role for the Queens.
“For me, it’s always been an honor to wear the nation’s badge,” Abakah stated in an Instagram post as monitored by Happyghana.com “It’s a dream come true”.
Despite holding Zambia to a 3-3 draw in Ndola, the final aggregate score, 4-3 in favor of Zambia, marked the end of Ghana’s quest for a historic first Olympic appearance.
Looking ahead, Abakah expressed hope for another opportunity to represent Ghana and fight for the colors. “Hopefully we get the chance to fight for the colors again”.
The Black Queens will now shift their focus to WAFCON scheduled to take
place in Morrow in July this year.
