The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, is set to appear before Parliament to provide details regarding the search conducted at the Roman Ridge residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.
On March 19, heavily armed National Security operatives reportedly stormed Dr. Addison’s residence, disabling CCTV cameras and thoroughly searching the property.
The Minority in Parliament on Friday March 21, 2025 demanded clarity on the basis for the search warrant and a thorough explanation of the allegations that necessitated the raid.
In response, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga emphasized the legality of the operation, stating, “Law enforcement officers lawfully went there to conduct a search, and it is perfectly lawful. And so using the word raid is clearly wrong.”
The Interior Minister is expected to clarify key issues, including the role of National Security operatives, the reasons for targeting Dr. Addison’s home, and whether similar actions are planned for other officials.
However, Mr. Mubarak’s appearance has been rescheduled, with the Majority Leader announcing that March 25, 2025 will no longer be the date for his address, with an alternative date to be announced.
